China’s AI industry is defined by its relentless focus on performance optimization rather than brute-force scaling. From LLMs to real-world applications, Chinese AI companies consistently push for greater efficiency at every level.
WaveSpeedAI, an exhibitor at BEYOND Expo, exemplifies this mindset. The company specializes in accelerating multimodal AI while dramatically reducing operational costs.
WaveSpeedAI’s co-founder and CTO, Yangbing Li, brings eight years of experience in designing large-scale distributed systems. He previously held senior roles at companies such as Meicai and DP Technology, where he built task scheduling systems capable of managing millions of AI processes.
In our conversation at the Expo, Li shared insights into WaveSpeedAI’s proprietary architecture for dynamic compute scheduling and fused inference. The system enables image and video generation at triple the industry’s typical speed, while lowering compute costs to 1/3 of the norm.
Designed for enterprise adoption, WaveSpeedAI’s solutions offer flexible deployment through APIs or private setups. The platform supports a wide range of hardware environments, including NVIDIA’s latest B200 and H100 architectures. By maximizing GPU utilization, it enables real-time responsiveness in demanding scenarios such as content creation, AI agents, gaming, and social platforms.
The company recently raised several million dollars in seed funding and has already attracted customers from Europe and North America.
Looking ahead, Li noted that WaveSpeedAI intends to become the preferred infrastructure provider for developers and enterprises building AI-driven applications, accelerating the global rollout of multimodal generation technologies.
