Sniper Elite 5 Gets a May Release Date

Rebellion has announced on Twitter that Sniper Elite 5 is launching on May 26. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, and will also receive a release on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series and One, and PC.

Sniper Elite 5 is set in France, 1944, with players taking part in a US military operation along the coast of Brittany. It features a secret Nazi project called Operation Kraken that threatens to end World War II in defeat for the Allies.

Rebellion promises advanced gunplay physics and traversal, in-depth customization, an enhanced kill cam, and a variety of multiplayer modes including an “invasion” option where players can secretly enter other users’ games and hunt them down.

Sniper Elite 5 was announced in 2019 alongside three other Sniper Elite titles but will be the first brand-new mainline instalment in more than five years.

Rebellion hasn’t shown much of the game so far, but has released a gameplay trailer, cinematic trailer, and now its release date reveal trailer.

In our 8/10 review of Sniper Elite 4, IGN said: “A lot of games tout the ability to ‘play how you want to play’, but [this game’s] missions and mechanics actually are robust enough to back up that claim. Picking apart the Nazi war machine piece by piece, using whatever plan comes to mind, is a blast.”
