New LEGO Sets for March 2023: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and More
It’s March, which means you can scoop up a new batch of LEGO sets. This month’s releases include some big ones, ranging from a popular Korean musical act to a fantastical elven getaway from The Lord of the Rings. Most are available now, but that Rivendell set releases March 5 for LEGO VIP members, and March 8 for everyone else. If you want to check out all the new sets, you can find them here, but we’ve highlighted the ones most likely to appeal to IGN readers below. Let’s get to it.
LEGO Star Wars Helmets
There’s no shortage of display builds for Star Wars helmets, but this month brings three new ones that look great. You get helmets for Captain Rex and Clone Commander Cody, plus the Boushh helmet Leia wears in Jabba’s Palace while rescuing Han.
LEGO Technic: The Batman – Batcycle
- See it on LEGO Store – $49.99
First came the Batmobile from The Batman. Now comes the Batcycle. This LEGO Technic set has you construct a miniature version of the iconic vehicle, complete with steering, suspension, and a chain drive. This one is designed to be played with, but you can also put down the kickstand and set it on a desk or shelf for display.
LEGO BTS Dynamite
This LEGO Store exclusive came in stock and sold out quickly. Thankfully, LEGO brought it back, though it’s currently backordered. The Korean pop group BTS gets its own donut shop disco set, which is sure to please fans of all stripes.
LEGO Technic: 2022 Ford GT
- See it on LEGO Store – $119.99
This “made for display” set has you construct a truly impressive 2022 Ford GT. Built to 1:12 scale, it uses Technic pieces to create realistic suspension, doors and a hood that opens, and a V6 engine with moving pistons.
LEGO Brickheadz: Disney and Pixar Sets
- See it on LEGO Store – $14.99
I’m not typically a huge fan of the super-deformed Brickheadz design, but it works really well on Eve and Wall-E, the robotic characters from one of Pixar’s best films. Also available now are a pair of villains with Cruella and Maleficent, plus a pair of heroes with Moana and Merida.
LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Exotic Parrot
- See it on LEGO Store – $19.99
The 3-in-1 sets are great, because you can get more use out of them than your average LEGO set. Each one comes with instructions to create three different builds with the same set of bricks. In this case, you can build an exotic parrot sitting on some flowers. When you’re done with that, you can use the same bricks to build a fish and a frog. That’s bang for your buck. Note this one is slightly backordered, and will ship out in a couple weeks.
LEGO Harry Potter – Hogwarts: Room of Requirement
- See it on LEGO Store – $49.99
LEGO released a number of Harry Potter-themed sets this month, including this one that comes with some neat items, including Fiendfyre that turns into a fire serpent, plus five minifigures.
LEGO The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell
- See it on LEGO Store – (Available March 5 for LEGO VIP members, and March 8 for everyone else)
As mentioned above, this gorgeous set releases March 5 for LEGO VIP members. Joining the VIP program is free, so there’s no reason not to do it, especially since you get early access to some of the most sought-after sets — like this one. IGN’s LEGO expert will have a detailed article and slideshow on this set that we’ll publish closer to release. Stay tuned.
LEGO Star Wars: Executor Super Star Destroyer Is Up for Preorder
- See it on LEGO Store – $69.99
And while it’s not out now, it’s now available for preorder. This set has you build an awesome looking Executor Super Star Destroyer. Want to decimate a rebellion and look great doing it? Look no further.
LEGO Star Lord’s Helmet Is Up for Preorder
- See it on LEGO Store – $79.99
The latest set in the helmet series is Star Lord’s helmet, which looks pretty awesome. This set is available for preorder now and ships out April 1. That’s no joke.
