Video Game Release Dates: The Biggest Games of May 2023 and Beyond

May has arrived, and with it comes a whole new batch of video game releases. 2023 has been a busy year already, with games like the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Hogwarts Legacy, and remakes like Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, and Dead Space. Plenty of other major releases are planned this year, including Spider-Man 2 and Starfield, plus a major Nintendo franchise getting a new installment this month. In other words, whether you do your gaming on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and/or PC, you have plenty to look forward to.

The following list is divided by platform; you can jump to your favorite one using the shortcuts below. And if you’re someone who likes to preorder, you can click the buy link to make sure it arrives on launch day.

Upcoming PS4 and PS5 Games

Lots of PS5 owners are probably still playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at the moment. That’s a good thing, because no huge releases are coming to PlayStation this month. That said, anyone looking for something new to play can likely find something worthwhile, including LEGO 2K Drive, the retro-Doom inspired Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun, or possibly The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, if it turns out to be any good.

Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games

If the Nintendo Switch release schedule for May looks a little thin, there’s a very good reason for that. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom hits the platform on May 12, and no one wants their game to have to compete with that. That said, non-Zelda fans have a few other options.
